What data we receive

For your account: your email address and the name you type in yourself. We have no passwords — you sign in with a code from an email or through Google. If you use Google, all we get from it is your email address and name.

For learning: the language your tutor explains in, the currency prices are shown in, and your answers to the “how I learn best” questionnaire if you filled it in. The questionnaire is optional.

As lessons go on: which topics you have covered, how long a lesson ran, which tutor taught it, the state of the board and the steps ticked off — so a lesson can be picked up where you left it.

About payment: how many minutes were added, under which pack and when. Your card details never reach us — payments aren’t connected yet, and when they are, a payment provider will handle them, not us.

What happens during a lesson

A lesson runs on voice and a shared board. Your speech is turned into text as you speak, the text goes to a language model, and the answer is spoken back in your tutor’s voice. This happens as a stream, in real time.

We do not record lessons: no audio and no video is stored. The speech transcript isn’t stored either — it exists for exactly as long as the sentence does.

Something else is stored: what is on the board, the steps ticked off and how long the lesson ran. That is what lets you come back to a topic and carry on instead of starting over.

Your name is not passed to the video service: a lesson participant is labelled anonymously, and a fresh identifier is issued for every connection.

Why we process it

So the service works: to create an account, recognise you next time, run a lesson, count minutes and show you how many are left.

So the lesson is better: the “how I learn best” questionnaire and the memory of what you covered let your tutor skip what you already know.

To comply with the law: records of minutes bought and spent have to be kept as accounting records.

We do not sell data, do not pass it to ad networks and do not build advertising profiles from it.

Who we share data with

We run on other people’s infrastructure, and we list openly who sees what.

Supabase — accounts and database. Vercel — hosting. LiveKit — the live connection during a lesson. Deepgram — speech recognition. ElevenLabs — your tutor’s synthesised voice. Anthropic — the language model that runs the lesson. bitHuman — the tutor’s facial animation. Resend — sending the sign-in code email. Google — sign-in with Google, if you use it.

Each of them gets only what it cannot do its job without: speech recognition needs the audio, email delivery needs the address, the language model needs the conversation and the topic.

Some of these companies sit outside the European Union. Transfers to them rely on the standard contractual clauses they publish themselves.

How long we keep it

Account and learning data — for as long as the account exists. Delete the account and everything attached to it goes too: profile, balance, lesson history, boards. The one exception is the one-way fingerprint of your address, which stops welcome minutes being given twice; there is a separate section on it below.

Records of minutes and payments are kept longer, for as long as the law on keeping accounting records requires.

Speech transcripts and lesson audio are not kept at all.

Your rights

You can get a copy of your data, correct it, delete it or ask us to limit how we process it. Some of that is right there in settings: your name, the language and the lesson history you can change or clear yourself.

To delete the account entirely or to get an export of your data, write to us and we’ll do it.

If you think we are handling your data wrongly, you have the right to complain to the supervisory authority in your country. But write to us first — we’ll most likely sort it out faster.

Protecting the free minutes

Welcome minutes are given once per person. To make that work, we remember that a given mailbox has already had them — and what we remember is not the address itself but a one-way fingerprint of it. It cannot be turned back into an address.

The fingerprint stays after the account is deleted. Otherwise “delete and sign up again” would be an endless supply of free minutes. Nothing else survives the deletion.

Separately we keep a short record of sign-ups: the email domain, how many minutes were granted and why. The full address does not go into it. We need it to see spikes of abuse and not tighten the rules blindly.

We do not take or store a fingerprint of your device.

Children

The service is meant for school-age learners too. If a child is under fifteen, the account is opened and run by a parent or another legal guardian, and it is they who agree to this document.

We ask a child for nothing beyond a name and an email address, and we do not collect data a lesson doesn’t need.

Cookies

We set only the cookies the service cannot work without: your sign-in session and the interface language you chose. There are no advertising or analytics cookies on the site.

The colour theme and a few small preferences live in your browser’s storage and never reach us.
